Maximizing Savings: The Advantage of Remote Collaboration for US-Based CPG Clients
Benefits of Working with a Canadian Photographer
Teaming up with a Canadian photographer comes with specific benefits. You'll receive exceptional photography without the big city cost. For those not in major urban areas, you're likely looking at remote shoots or needing to travel for a photoshoot. Sending your products to us is an efficient alternative. Beyond delivering excellent quality, the dollar exchange rate alone means substantial savings for you. We'll elaborate more below, but working with us remotely guarantees you'll get more value for your money, plus the added bonus of Canadian friendliness!
Cost Savings at a Glance
Benefit from the favorable dollar exchange rate, reducing overall costs.
Enjoy tax savings by not paying Canadian sales tax, as services are "zero-rated" for international clients.
Reduce production expenses significantly. Studios, crew, and food stylist rates in Ottawa are approximately 30% less expensive compared to those in Toronto or major U.S. cities, offering substantial savings.
Why CPG?

The Process
Reach out, and we'll have a discovery call to come up with a plan and provide you with a quote or multiple options if needed.
We start pre-production (sourcing food, props, locations, etc.).
We'll send you boxes and packaging to ship your product to our studio. All you have to do is pack it up and have it picked up by our shipper, and we take it from there.
We'll broadcast the entire shoot with you, as well as have an ongoing Zoom call throughout the day. We'll update you with new images and address any inquiries as we move through the shot list.
Your final images and videos will be delivered to you.
The Numbers
Here’s a quick peek at potential costs for a food photoshoot spanning 1-2 days in both Canada and the US. These are ballpark figures, subject to change based on how elaborate you want your production to be.
We’ve quoted the same number in CAD and USD as the line item rates are usually fairly similar in their respective currencies, i.e., professional retouching in Canada and the US are roughly around $150/hr. before conversion. We do tend to have cheaper production costs for our studios and crew, which is shown in our chart below.
$10,000 USD Quote + %5.1 Average State Sales Tax = $10,501.00 USD
$10,000 CAD Quote (Zero Rated Tax) = $7355.13 USD

Savings = $3145.87 USD
When we add these cost savings together with the low production costs in Ottawa, we’re getting close to saving almost 40%. You can save that money or get more out of your project!
Check out our most common line item rates below and how they compare to some average rates from larger US cities.
