How we’re integrating A.I into our workflow to save you time and money.
At our studio, we're mixing the magic of AI with our photography skills to take your products to places and seasons that would be really tough (or super pricey) to do otherwise.
The Food and Products Are Still Real
We continue to photograph and style the food and packaging in camera, while the rest of the scenes are created with our preferred AI generators. We then blend these elements, ensuring that lighting and angles all match up. Keeping the food authentic and captured in camera remains a priority for us.
File Flexibility
These files offer great flexibility in post-production. We relight and build out shadows for all assets shot in the studio, allowing you to experiment with layouts and product placement long afterward. You also have the option to swap images in and out of different scenes as needed. Suppose the product packaging changes in the future; all we'd need to do is reshoot the packaging and update the file for you. No more expensive reshoots!
There’s Still Room For Traditional Photography
Not all of your images need to be shot this way. As a traditional photography studio, we can create a combination of AI and in-camera images within the same project. Although AI technology has come a long way, many images are still easier to achieve in-camera. We'll go through all of this before production begins.
The Process
We’ll chat and help you develop a creative concept and shot list. From there we’ll determine which images are best suited for AI compositing) We’ll generate the AI background plates before the shoot and have them approved before moving forward.
On the shoot day, we’ll style and capture the food, beverage, or packaging to match the lighting and angles of the pre-approved AI background images.
The images will be assembled in post-production using compositing techniques to ensure the lighting, mood, and colours all work together perfectly.
You’ll have your final files delivered as layered files, allowing you to adjust the positioning of all the key elements to suit different design needs.
Does AI Compositing work for any type of image?
AI compositing tends to work best when working with 1-2 items in a single image. If we need to create a more complex image with many custom props, food items, and surfaces, we'd suggest opting for the traditional in-camera route for those. We're comfortable shooting a blend of both in the same project!
What are the main advantages of this AI compositing?
Cost Savings: We’re able to save money on expensive sets and locations. If you can dream the scene, we can probably make it happen.
Efficiency: We're going to be able to shoot more images on our production day. Generating all the scenes in advance is a huge time saver for us. The photoshoot really begins with the generation of the background plates.
File Flexibility: These files are incredibly flexible in post-production. We relight and build out shadows for all the assets shot in the studio, allowing you to experiment with layouts.

Uncrustables asked us to shoot their product at a camp site. The only problem is we’re in Canada and it’s the middle of the winter!
We generated the above image using detailed prompts to get the colours we wanted and then composited the image in Photoshop with the real food shot on set.
This was the real food shot on set. We made sure to shoot the image at the proper angle and match the light direction for consistency.
